Words of advice
Grandpa is one of three people featured in Skin Deep. This video is a short clip from an interview conducted just before the first lockdown (transcript below).
Interview conducted by Dawinder Bansal and filmed by Ismael Bashir.
“Don’t tell lies. Lies are dangerous things, one can use lies to commit multiple sins. A lie is a lie and can’t be hidden, it always comes out, at some point, then what will your friends think of you? They will think I wasted years with someone I though I could trust.
Aside from lying, don’t steal. We were taught the same from our mother and father, don’t steal. Stealing can’t be hidden either, in whichever state you choose to live you can never hide theft.
Don’t talk against someone, be happy in your own life.
If you don’t have your health, you have nothing. There’s no taste to life, you may have millions in the bank but of what use is it if you’re dependant on someone else to fetch you a glass of water because you don’t have your health?
Aside from this the thing is, okay, if possible assist someone, this is an essential thing. Whether that person is your friend or a stranger, whatever, you should be aware that someone is desperate and in need of help. Without them having to ask you should help them. They will give you a hundred thanks, this that and the other, they’ll hug you, forget it. You did what you were supposed to do.”
